The village of Croyde, set in Croyde Bay, North Devon is the ideal location for a holiday in Croyde. It is a wonderful blend of old and new. The village is steeped in history and has been home to generations of farmers and fishermen and the original, old stone cottages and thatched roofed buildings are still in use today.

Wander along some of the villages little back lanes and footpaths and you will discover some beautiful views of the bay and the surrounding countryside which has been farmed for generations. If you enjoy a good walk, then why not follow the Heritage coastline that surrounds Croyde Bay and visit Baggy Point, set amongst some of the most dramatic coastline in the UK and cared for bu the National Trust. All around Croyde is a magical network of interconnecting footpaths and bridleways.

If you would prefer to relax, then a gentle 5 minute walk will take you down to croyde beach. The beach has won several awards and is regularly maintained and protected by Lifeguards through the summer months. Croyde Burrows, surrounding the beach is protected due to the unique birds and wildlife that inhabit them.

If you are in need of refreshment, there are shops, cafes, restaurants, tea rooms and pubs all within the village centre, with a wonderful cafe overlooking the whole bay at the foot of the Baggy Point coastal path.

Croyde has been popular with surfers since the sport began in Britain. Its clean, accessible beach, big waves and warm waters make it an ideal surfing spot and due to the increase in surf schools and shops, Croyde has grown in popularity and is now deemed to be amongst the top surfing venues in the UK. There is constanlty a mix of newcomers, seasoned professionals and experinced locals all enjoying the big waves that Croyde has to offer and the wonderful atmosphere created by the buzz that surfing creates.

If you are considering Croyde as a venue for family holiday, then you will find that there is plenty going on to entertain the whole family. As well as the beach at Croyde, there are also beaches at Saunton and Putsborough, both within walking distance and both well served by beach shops and cafes. Croyde has a swimming baths with fun pool and family pubs with play equipment and outside seating for families.

The Tarka trail in nearby Braunton is a cycle path built on an old railway line which makes its way all over the North Devon coast and eventually inland as far as Exeter. You will find several places offer cycle hire along the path. The path also runs up to Ilfracombe which is a bustling little fishing village with plenty of attractions for tourists.

Outside of croyde is a whole host of fascinating and historical villages to visit and tourist attractions such as Watermouth Castle, The Big Sheep, Atlantic Village, Clovelly, Dinosaur World, Once upon a time and many, many more. But if you just want to relax, stay around Croyde itslef. There is always a magical, chilled out atmosphere there. A wonderful place to visit. Once youve been, You'll never forget Croyde.
